Nationwide touring band, The Lucky Losers are Winners of five Independent Blues Awards in 2021 including “Artist of the Year” (Cathy Lemons), “Song of the Year” Godless Land & Best Blues R&B CD. Based in San Francisco, their music is a throwback to the hybrid of soul, blues, rock, gospel, and country that emerged in the late 1960’s with impassioned vocal performances, electrifying musical interplay, and powerful harmonica.

Their latest album Godless Land was produced by Kid Andersen and on the Vizztone label. The album features 10 originals & two tasteful covers. Lemons & Berkowitz exchange leads, harmonize, and entertain with some humorous duets – all punctuated by Berkowitz’s imaginative harmonica riffs.  From the soul rocker opener Half A Nothing where Lemons forcefully takes lead to the lively duets of Catch Desire By The Tail and a 1920’s rag-time cover, What Makes You Act Like That, to the compelling original, Godless Land, which made the Finalist category in the prestigious International Songwriting Competition in 2020, this is a remarkable album.

Since 2015, The Lucky Losers have completed numerous national tours, performing on stages in over 42 states. Their artistic achievements have garnered 6 international award wins, 20 award nominations, & two International Songwriting Competition prizes as Finalists.

Press Quotes:

“The soulful power of the songs takes hold on the opening track and doesn’t let up until the last groove of the album…. ‘Godless Land’ showcases the lyrical and musical versatility of Lemons & Berkowitz while offering a richly laden collection filled with musical gems whose many facets shine luminously.” — LIVING BLUES, JANUARY 2021/ Issue #270, Vol 52, #1

“One wonders whether the fact the songs seem to linger in one’s head after listening is because the songs are so well-crafted, or the performances are wonderful. Like their previous recordings, there are first-rate songs, superb singing, and terrific playing.” — IN A BLUE MOOD, Ron Weinstock

“Lemons and Berkowitz hit it old-school, with superior musicianship, unparalleled songwriting, and beautiful harmonies. This is one of those recordings that never grows old. In the end, this album was reminiscent of the blues classics…easy on the ear, but so much more.” –REFLECTIONS IN BLUE, Bill Wilson
