A note from
the President:
As is the
entire membership of the Blues Society of Western NY and Blues Fans throughout
the region, I am saddened and concerned over the unanticipated closing of
Buffalo's premier blues club, the Lafayette Tap Room. It is my understanding that the action was a
business decision based on multiple factors, many over which the owners had no
control. Unfortunately, the Blues
Society has no ability to change that decision or the factors precipitating
it
What we do
resolve, however, is first to locate an alternative, centrally located,
welcoming venue for Society events, including Am-Jam and the Memphis-Bound
Competition. Second, we are in communication with management of those national
acts that had been booked at the Tap Room to find an alternative local booking
that Buffalo not miss out on highly anticipated forthcoming shows (keep
checking our website for details).
Third, we are committed to discuss with all possible local music venues
the benefits of booking blues acts, with our commitment to publicize those
shows and maximize attendance. And,
finally, we offer our encouragement and cooperation to the owners of the Tap
Room with any pending future plans to relocate or reopen. We wish you guys the best!
And we need
the help of every last Blues fan in WNY. The most important thing you can do is get
out there and support live blues!
The venues need your food and drink dollars to pay those bands and to
turn a profit they deserve. Keep
checking the calendar on this website, then get out as often as you can. Also, if you are at a venue--or if you are a venue considering live music or
already featuring other music genres--encourage booking blues. We fans are strong, loyal, and tend to enjoy
clubs' offerings when out!
The Blues Society
is committed to keeping the Blues alive in WNY.
With your help and patronage, it'll be stronger than ever!
